This very cool couple from Morristown, NJ had planned a Destination Wedding at one of my most favorite VT venues, the Hawk Inn & Resort in Plymouth, but because of Irene’s path, right up Route 100, there became no way to get there. So with that and a number of other more tragic Hawk related reasons, the resort had to cancel all of it’s events for the near future and in doing so relocated 2 of my weddings this month. By some grace of a higher power, within 3 days, somehow Shannon & Mike were still able to keep the date, they just had to move the location down a bit closer to home. So, understanding that life get’s in the way, I agreed to simply follow them down to NJ for the weekend – and I have no regrets. In fact, a bit of a tangent here, but it reminded me of how much fun it was back when I was a wedding photojournalist out of Boston and was willing to travel anywhere to document love stories, not just in Vermont like I’ve tried for the last 6 years – maybe it even made me more willing to consider that option again more liberally; we’ll see.
Anyway, as I found out, the Inn at Millrace Pond in Hope, NJ, in North-West New Jersey, just off the Delaware Water Gap, was like no other part of New Jersey I’ve ever seen & I’d thought I’d seen it all: it is a truly lovely destination wedding spot where I was able to create some of my best work this year!
I long for the opportunity of returning in the near future.
