Tenney & Dave’s Longmeadow, MA Wedding at Home – September 10, 2011

Again, thanks to Hurricane Irene, the 2nd of my Hawk Inn wedding relocation’s reminded me why I shouldn’t only photograph weddings in just Vermont. Of course it also helped immeasurably that Tenney & Dave and all their friends and family, especially Tenney’s mom was SO unbelievably COOL to work with given all the last minute hard work they were required to do to pull this off!!! Here are just a few of my favorite moments from this love story:

Shannon & Mike’s Vermont Wedding Story was moved to Hope, NJ thanks to Irene… September 3, 2011

This very cool couple from Morristown, NJ had planned a Destination Wedding at one of my most favorite VT venues, the Hawk Inn & Resort in Plymouth, but because of Irene’s path, right up Route 100, there became no way to get there. So with that and a number of other more tragic Hawk related reasons, the resort had to cancel all of it’s events for the near future and in doing so relocated 2 of my weddings this month. By some grace of a higher power, within 3 days, somehow Shannon & Mike were still able to keep the date, they just had to move the location down a bit closer to home. So, understanding that life get’s in the way, I agreed to simply follow them down to NJ for the weekend – and I have no regrets. In fact, a bit of a tangent here, but it reminded me of how much fun it was back when I was a wedding photojournalist out of Boston and was willing to travel anywhere to document love stories, not just in Vermont like I’ve tried for the last 6 years – maybe it even made me more willing to consider that option again more liberally; we’ll see.

Anyway, as I found out, the Inn at Millrace Pond in Hope, NJ, in North-West New Jersey, just off the Delaware Water Gap, was like no other part of New Jersey I’ve ever seen & I’d thought I’d seen it all: it is a truly lovely destination wedding spot where I was able to create some of my best work this year!

I long for the opportunity of returning in the near future.

For today’s real wedding feature we have Vy and Spenser’s waterfront event in Burlington, Vermont. The ceremony was on the Spirit of the Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain and the reception was at the Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center. Big bright sunflowers along with blue and yellow details filled the event. Below are the photos from the day by Spencer Leonard Photography!

Jen & Nick’s Wedding Story – Inn at the Round Barn Farm – Friday, August 26, 2011

What a joy it was to see this group of my old college chums; bummer I wasn’t available to hang out that weekend with them all, hopefully we can make it to our 15th reunion next year. Nick, it was really great to meet you & your family & friends too…

Sam & the crew at the Round Barn outdid themselves again (and with the hurricane looming).

Cool coincidence that I live only 5 minutes away and was still available so last minute.

Here are just a few of my favorite moments:

Devon & Ryan’s Montpelier, VT Wedding Story – August 27, 2011

Silly me, I had normally restricted myself to document only 0ne wedding a weekend, but because I had previously booked a Sunday wedding (see previous post) which had not reserved rehearsal coverage, I figured I’d be fine to add a 1/2 day wedding the day before, then as it turned out another 1/2 last minute, the day before that (see next post) making it 3 in 1 weekend; and a hurricane to cap it off that Sunday night. I was very much on top of my game for these 3 and would happily consider doing it again; each are extremely unique stories in which I am able to show off the Real Life, Fun & Emotional aspects of each as well as if each had been alone.

Here are a snippet of my fav’s from Devon & Ryan’s Picture Story:

Kristen & Eric’s Hurricane Irene Wedding Story – Mountain Top Inn, Sunday, August 28, 2011

Documenting Kristen & Eric’s wedding will be one of my most memorable.  After a white-knuckle drive over what used to be VT Route 73, I met up with the groom, his attendants and a few guests that were able to find safe passage through the storm.  We soon came to realize that the bride’s arrival would be challenging and although roads were closing throughout the area, she was able to find her way.  Running on generators, the wedding party and guests were able to celebrate Kristen and Eric’s wedding with gusto. The ever calming Chelsea and her crew at the Mountain Top, Newton from Peak DJ, Nicole from The Painted Tulip & I helped everyone forget about Irene for that night inside while it raged on outside… Kudos to everyone who made it!

Here are a few of my favorite Real Life, Fun & Emotional moments from that day:

Kristen & Andrew’s Sugarbush E-Session

Went for a little stroll through the base area at Sugarbush with these two love birds on Tuesday afternoon; hard to imagine that this ski area somehow managed to stay visually unharmed by Hurricane Irene, but it surely did as these images of Kristen and Andrew’s love clearly display:

Vy & Spenser’s Burlington Lake Side Wedding Story – Ethan Allen Cruise Ship & the ECHO Lake Aquarium – Saturday, July 30, 2011

Thank God it was a glorious day to be out on the water and not nearly as hot as the day we scouted out the boat a few weeks before – really couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. Here are about 30 of my favorite moments from this day; all the rest are available on Vy & Spenser’s Pictage page.
